Why Courage?

Follow Along with the Message

Paul in a Roman prison.  Near the end of life.

A decision.  " I am not ashamed."--Romans 1:16, 2 Timothy 1:12

The Book of Numbers--when life got hard, they wanted to "go back".

Courage is the opposite.  Playing offense.  No regrets.

"Do not let your heart be troubled."--Jesus.  (If it happens, it is because you LET it happen.)

     "Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God."--v. 8

     "Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous!  Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."--Joshua 1:9

FAMILY OF FAITH--You come from a long line of courageous people--v. 5

FUTURE REWARD--You will be glad when "that day" comes.--v. 12

     "I am not ashamed for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day."

     "Whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory."--Luke 9:26

Ironic!  Playing it safe, really isn't!

The wounded child inside of you isn't telling you the whole truth!

FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Not timid.  Not afraid. 

Power and Love and Discipline (sound mind)

Like a campfire!   Warm, bright, useful
