Follow Along with the Message

The events of John 21 take place at least eight days after Resurrection Sunday, based on the timeline of the Gospel accounts.

The repentant believer is never disqualified from serving the Lord; rather, our shortcomings can encourage and equip others who may be facing the same struggles.

  1.     Produces Our  .

Gerald Borchert in the New American Commentary wrote, “It is almost as though the evangelist is affirming the well-known concept that for a person to become right with God and gain a sense of release from the past sense of rebellion that that person should face the reality of where the deviation or sin occurred.”

There will be moments in your life when a similar question is placed before you: Do you really love the Lord?

  1. Our   Produces His  .

By asking Peter the question three times, he cemented Peter’s response in his heart and in his mind. In Peter’s response to Jesus, we see a man who has been humbled because of his previous experience of failure, but we also see a man who is determined.

Jesus bought our forgiveness at a high price, and Peter’s story teaches us that our denials are not beyond his grace.
