Unlike the other pieces of armor that we have studied from Paul’s lists in Ephesians 6, Paul identifies a specific purpose for the shield of faith, to “extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.”

The devil is constantly trying to get Christians bogged down in their worries, doubts, and emotions.

 

Equipping ourselves with the shield of faith means being able to look over our circumstances and look at Christ: who he is and what he has done on our behalf.
