Follow Along with the Message

Scripture will often use an athletic reference to draw contrasts to spiritual issues.

Philip H. Hacking, in his commentary, Opening Up Hebrews says, “The witnesses are the heroes and heroines of the previous chapter and, changing the metaphor to more biblical terms, we are watching them for encouragement rather than them watching us in examination.”

To Win Gold We Must…

 1.   Aside all  .

The Greek Lexicon points out that the word for “hinders” means “that which serves to prevent someone from doing something.”

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest.”

When You Toss Aside Your Heavy Hindrances You Can Then…

2. Run with  .

Hebrews 10:36 says, “You have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.”

H.G. Liddell said,  The word for “look” means “to look away from all others at once, to have in full view.”

Donald Hagner wrote, “Christians must keep looking away from this world to Him.”
