God is patient.  Orderly, step-by-step creation of the world.  He requires it of His people.

2 words in the New Testament (James uses both).

Macro (long)  thumia (emotion, passion, suffering)--longsuffering.  PAIN-PATIENT

"Wonderful Counselor" (Isaiah 9:6).  Counseling takes time.

An inadequate theology of self-discipline.  Strengthen your hearts! v. 8.

"He learned obedience from the things He suffered"

 (Hebrews 5:8).  "The only way out is through" (Robert Frost).

Hupo (under)  meno (to remain)--endurance.  PRESSURE-PATIENT

WHY?  Because the Lord is coming!  v. 7, v. 8, v. 9.  Don't quit!  We are almost home.
