We love to create space for our lives and sometimes fail to create space in our lives.

Treasures go beyond money and have to do with our inner attentions, energy, and what we are devoted to: time, talents, gifts, feelings, even intellect.

Margins test the…

  1. Durability of Our Inheritance

We want to know when we spend our resources, “How long will it last?”

Jesus did not say, “money” because while everyone does not have a lot of cash, we all have materials that we treasure.

The key to creating margin with your materials lies in the little phrase, “for yourselves.”

Two things happen to the things we own. First, they decay. Second, our possessions can disappear.

1 Peter 1:4: “And into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade -- kept in heaven for you.”

Margins challenge the…

  1. Heart of Our Investments

Our problem is that we’ve invested everything down here and hardly anything up there!

You’ll never be able to get your heart focused on an heavenly inheritance as long as your attention is on earthly investments.

To love God requires service and sacrifice.

Materials can be wonderful servants, but a lousy masters.
