The NIV commentary says, “we cannot love God in isolation from other relationships in life.”

 

In his commentary Mark for Everyone, N. T. Wright says of this passage in Mark 12, “If people lived by this rule, most of the world’s greatest problems would be solved overnight.”

Catherine McNeil wrote a book titled, Fearing Bravely; Risking Love for Our Neighbors, Strangers and Enemies. She writes, “Loving our neighbors sounds so simple, but living it out requires the full upheaval of our lives."

Jesus said they will know us how…by our “love.”

There is no neighborly qualification one must meet in order to receive your love.

Jerome, a fifth-century teacher and translator of the Latin Vulgate says, “We are neighbors, all people to all people, for we have one Father.”
