Follow Along with the Message

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change.

1. Follow His Example

There was really no need for Him to be baptized. So why was Jesus baptized? The answer is; “It is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.’” (Matthew 3:15)

The first message from the newborn church on the Day of Pentecost was, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

Because baptism is important and Jesus set the example, remember two things the Bible teaches about baptism…

                a. Saved then Baptized

The sequence is you repent, believe, and then you are baptized.

The sequence is important so you get your baptism on the right side of the cross.

Whenever a person is baptized, they are advertising that they are a follower of Jesus.

                b. Symbol of New Life

Baptism is an act of obedience. Romans 6:4 that says, “Buried with Him through baptism...raised to walk in newness of life.”

2. Immersed in the Spirit

Spirit baptism is an inner act that literally purifies your soul and spirit; you become Holy because the Spirit of God is Holy. To be filled or baptized in the Holy Spirit means you are totally immersed in the life of God.

Are you ready to go public today? Is your baptism on the right side of the cross?
