"The remedy for discouragement is the word of God, when you fill your heart and mind with its truth, you regain your perspective and find renewed strength" (Warren Wiersbe).

"The Holy Scriptures are our letter from home" (Augustine).

It happened again.  I was at Hunters Glen Men's Bible Study,  (Thank you, Patrick Hicks for your leadership of this group.)  I know that not everyone can make a 6:30 am Bible study, but Thursday morning is one of my favorite moments of the week.  This week we discussed Psalm 19.  Amazing text.  It pictures the universe in joyful, energetic terms.  Resilient. Strong.  "The sun is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber."  How's that for a illustration?   People who choose to be grumpy or pessimistic will NOT find the universe willing to join them in such negativity.  God's world is alive with courageous strength. I left that morning encouraged and energized.

It happened this past Sunday, too.  The meetings with Deacons at 4:00 and then the Life Group Leaders at 5:00 left me grateful and hopeful.  What a quality group of people!  What a privilege to serve with them!  Thank you, friends.

If you are reading this on Wednesday, I hope you will go get your car keys and meet others at 6:30 in Fellowship Hall.  We begin a new Bible study, tonight.  King Jesus: The Miracles of Christ in the Book of Matthew.  I will lead this evening's lesson on the temptation of our Lord in chapter 4.  Powerful.  Practical.  Inspiring.  You are invited.

Sunday, we continue our study in the book of Joshua.  The title of the message is "New Chapter, Now What?"  I hope you will read Joshua 3 in preparation.

These are good days.  All of us are sorry for the surge in new Covid cases.  Our prayers and continued vigilance are necessary the safety of others and the protection of our health care workers and teachers.  This challenge, too,  is manageable for people whose eyes are up on a bright horizon.

I will see you Sunday.  The Lord is near and we are finding energy in Him.

God Bless you, friends.
